Lifeguard Training: (Ages 15+)

Lifeguard training courses are blended learning, which requires an online component and in-person skills sessions. The online portion must be completed prior to the in-person course. This course includes lifeguard training, CPR for professional rescuers, AED, and first aid. Participants must complete a prerequisite skills test which includes a swim-tread-swim sequence and a timed brick retrieval. Participants will receive a lifeguard certification that is valid for two years, upon successful completion of the course. Course graduates ages 15 and older are encouraged to apply for YMCA employment.

 

Lifeguard Recertification: (Ages 15+)

Lifeguard re-certification courses are for those who currently hold a valid lifeguard certification or the certification is no more than 30 Days Expired. Participants must complete the prerequisite skills test which includes a swim-tread-swim sequence and a timed brick retrieval. Successful completion of the review extends the individual's certification for two more years. Participants are encouraged to bring their own rescue mask if they have one.

 

Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED: (Ages 14+)

The American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED courses are blended learning, which requires an online component and an in-person skills session. The online portion must be completed prior to the in-person course. The program provides participants with the knowledge and skills they need to recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac, breathing, and first aid emergencies. Emergencies can happen anytime, anywhere, to anyone. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive an American Red Cross Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED certification that is valid for two years.
